I had a lovely time entertaining all of the people at the Rotary Club of Ossett, for their 70th annual dinner at the National Coal Mining Museum for England.
Thank you so much current President Paul and Sharon for inviting me. Hopefully see you guys again soon 😀

Come along, see some free magic and discuss how I can be the solution to your wedding entertainment worries 😀 If you want to read more about me before we meet please have a look at my website: www.richreynoldsmagician.co.uk I’m sure you’ve seen these blogs before so I’m not going to go on and on about convoluted reasons why you need a magician, I will just dive right into it....
One of the most popular comments people say to me is that “I have seen it on tv but never in person, I always assumed it was a camera trick!” Not many people have had the experience of seeing close-up magic before, let alone have it happen in their hands with a card they signed. A good magician can bring these kinds of qualities that lead to long lasting great memories for you and your guests. This is why a close-up magician can have a really positive effect on the atmosphere. Countless times I have started entertaining in a room full of guests and as soon as the first group starts reacting, gasping and clapping, all of the other guests want to know what’s going on. 2. Versatile and Hassle Free With other forms of entertainment you need a dedicated space, set up time, and everyone has to experience the entertainment whether they like it or not. Not the case for close-up magic! No matter where your guests are, if they are spread out around the venue or move from outside to inside due to unexpected weather conditions, a close-up magician can still mingle with your guests and keep them engaged and entertained. Some guests might not enjoy magic, no worries, they don’t have to participate at all. Also, the time of the day that a magician entertains your guests is completely up to you. In my experience of over 100 weddings the entertainment works best at the reception after the ceremony and before the wedding breakfast or on the evening. However, the exact times are up to you. 3. Fantastic Photo Opportunities I think one of the most overlooked reasons to book entertainment is the great photo opportunities it presents. I always like to liaise with the photographer so that we can make sure they capture images of your family and friends being astounded and amazed. 4. Quality and Style There are a few things to consider about the type of magician that will best suit your day. Obviously you want the best. It’s a good idea to check a magicians website but also check any social media pages they have, as these should include reviews from previous brides and grooms. What style of magician would suit you best? Would you like a dark gothic magician, a comedy magician or a magician who can keep all of the children entertained? You can decide by meeting the magician at a wedding Fayre or a restaurant where they regularly perform, or by watching videos of them performing. 5. Book Early! Booking entertainment for your special day is sometimes the last thing that is considered and booked. It’s a good idea to decide and book early. A good magician will be booked years in advance, you don’t want to meet some great magicians and realise they are already booked for your date. I have recently just taken a booking 33 months in advance of the wedding date! Another reason to book early is to save money, most full time magicians will put their prices up each year, this often means that the earlier you book the more money you save. I hope this helps you make your decision. www.fossca.co.uk I love all the different types of reactions on all of the faces 😀 I love these pictures that Kirsty sent me from her and Mango’s wedding back in August at the Ashbourne Hotel.
A big part of my job is to entertain guests at weddings but I find often the most rewarding part of the day is to show the bride and groom something magical and hand then an impossible souvenir that they can keep forever 😀 I had a lovely day at Cave Castle today! (Picture taken before the whitewash of snow)
It always feels good to show new brides and grooms how I can entertain their family and friends with some mind blowing magic. It was great to catch up with all the great staff at Cave Castle Hotel and all the other recommended suppliers such as Stephen Armishaw Photography, Steve Jackson DJ Entertainments, Sarah at The Floral Lounge - Weddings & Event Florists and the Master of Ceremonies Michael Wall. When you wake up with a sore head and then remember that you over did it the night before! 😀
I’ve been working on lots of new tricks, skills and sleights recently. I’m not going to pretend it isn’t a bit tedious sometimes but I know it will be worth it. Hard work never fails to produce results 😀 Some lovely pictures sent through from the fantastic Philip Broadbent Photography from Michael and Christine’s awesome wedding back in October.
Have a great weekend everyone 😀 |
