I first met Thomas & Sophie back in 2016 and loved adding a bit more magic to their wedding on Saturday night at The Triton Inn.
I’m sure you guys will have an amazing honeymoon in South East Asia! I’m so jealous! 😀 I don’t think Natalie had ever thought of having a magician at her wedding until we met at a wedding Fayre last year. I was so pleased to be a part of Phillip & Natalie’s special day! Have a great honeymoon in Crete 😎 Awesome to work alongside Steve from Willerby Photos for the first time too!

I met so many brides and grooms and caught up with excellent suppliers such as Rachel at Halo Photography, Tanya at Dainty Delights House of Cake, Fun Casino Hire, Linda Hofmann Cakes and Andy from Antich Fine English Tailors.
Most people have never booked a magician before so they have no idea how much a magician should cost. Therefore, I thought I would help to explain why magicians don’t usually provide prices on their websites and a rough idea of how much you should expect to pay.
Firstly, magicians generally don’t list their prices publicly because there are various unique factors related to the booking that could affect the price. Some of these factors will be travel time, day of the week and time of the year. Secondly, the fee that each magician charges will be different depending on their experience, which part of the country they live, how full their diary is and if they are full-time or part-time. I can’t tell you exactly how much a close-up magician will cost. However, an inexperienced magician who has just started to charge for performing might cost approximately £50. On average in Yorkshire, which is where I am based, to hire a professional close-up magician for 2 hours it will cost between £200 and £500. The more established the magician is the more he will charge. (This is one of the reasons why it’s a good idea to book a magician sooner rather than later. Because, the longer you leave it, the higher the probability that the magician has increased their prices). I often get enquiries from people who are very price focused. I can fully understand why some people are like this, as they may be planning a wedding or event on a budget. If I know that I will not be within their budget I often recommend other magicians that might be within their price range. However, I would suggest, when you are looking to book a magician, that you don’t make a decision purely on price, if possible. There are plenty of great close-up magicians out there. To make sure you are booking one of them I would recommend that you focus on testimonials, performance videos and word of mouth. I hope that this blog helped you in some way. Come along and I can show you how I can provide amazing entertainment for your Wedding Day! ♠️👰🤵🏻 I’m really looking forward to entertaining everyone at a corporate event in Leeds tonight!
Here is a great picture by Andy at Insight Photography of me performing my new Rubik’s Cube routine at The Business Culture Hull event last week at the K2 Bond Street building. This weekend it was my pleasure to entertain Kimberley & Darren and all of their guests on their special day at Bagden Hall Hotel.
These guys are such a lovely couple and I know they will have the time of their life on their honeymoon to Cape Verde! 😎 As much as i enjoyed meeting all the future brides and grooms at the Sheffield City Hall wedding Fayre on Sunday the highlight for me was bumping into Rachel James-Ness, who’s wedding I performed at back in July last year. 😀 It was great to do exhibit, for the first time, at the Francesca Cliffe - Events Wedding Fayre at the beautiful Sheffield City Hall today!
Lovely to meet all of the awesome brides and grooms and other quality exhibitors such as The Gin Wagon, Laura Charity Photography, Travis Carter - Close Up Magician, Kenwood Hall, Hallmark Goldsmiths & Fantail Designer Florist After watching The Da Vinci Code this week, it reminded me that I was lucky enough to go and see the real thing last year in Milan.
(Only person sad enough to take a picture like this though! 😊) ***Wedding Fayre***
I will be at the Sheffield City Hall Wedding Fayre organised by Francesca Cliffe - Events on Sunday 22nd April. I’ve never attended this Wedding Fayre before....I can’t wait! ♠️♥️♣️♦️ Do you wish you could teleport? It would make performing at 6 gigs in a weekend a bit easier! My diary is getting busier and busier, I really wish I could teleport from venue to venue, but not quite worked that one out yet. That said, I look forward to every weekend traveling around Yorkshire and beyond showing people close-up Magic. I am entertaining at over 100 weddings this year and I think it will be over 130 by the end of the year. Hopefully, I will still have time to make more videos, like the one below. Enjoy 😀 |
Magician's BlogI have created this blog to give you a glimpse into the life of a working modern close-up magician. Hope you enjoy! Archives
